RICO'SWhat do you look for in a dynamite Italian restaurant besides great wine and food? How about reasonable prices, neat location, lively atmosphere and super service? Rico's, in the heart of Chicago's original Little Italy, has it all! Although Rico's is a "neighborhood" place, it still has a definite touch of elegance, with its walls adorned with charming photos of the old Taylor Street. In this very Chicago-Italian setting, you can start off your lunch or dinner with a luscious caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes or a generous helping of perfectly cooked calamari, just to mention a couple of their tempting appetizers. The pasta and main courses tend to reflect your host's napolitan heritage, and every one I've had is absolutely delicious! You just can't go wrong with any of the veal dishes or the seafood here, and you can get just about any kind of pasta served with your favorite sauce -- the marinara is outstanding! Rico's boasts an excellent selection of wine, with prices that encourage you to order that extra bottle. One of the main reasons why you'll have such a good time is because the service is absolutely top-notch, which is the way it's supposed to be, but often isn't in many more "up-scale" establishments. Rico's convenient proximity to the Loop and West Side makes this a perfect place to eat and drink before or after the opera, theater or Bulls and Hawks games. With the added perk of a fine piano player and an easy-going, animated clientele, I guarantee that you'll want to go back to Rico's again. Il viaggiatore
